Let’s face it, the recent Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton has single handedly put reading of fairy tales firmly back on every budding princess’ and prince’s To Do list.
And why wouldn’t it?
Go back 50 years and girls and boys were spoon fed stories of knights in shining armor and damsels in distress.
Hands up all those women who have longed to be saved!
Hands up all those guys who have ever dreamed of sweeping a fair maiden off her feet and whisking her away!
Think back to your own childhood. Were there stories like Cinderella, The Princess and the Pea, and Snow White? I’m sure every culture has stories with similar themes. But why is this?
What are women being rescued from?
Why do men feel the need to be saviors?
Why do so many of us crave this type of relationship? And more importantly, are we happy when we get it?
The Royal Wedding was certainly the stuff of dreams and I suggest it will reinforce or rekindle loads of unfashionable desires in many people across the globe.

The Wedding of the decade resonated with so many people around the world. Were you one of the them?
