Why We Repeat the Same Mistakes Over and Over

What Motivates You?

Do you know what drives you? Do you know what makes you get out of bed every morning and seize the day? This is such an important part of us and who we are and yet few of us know what our own drivers are – what makes us tick. We can’t find and keep love if we don’t know who we are and what motivates us?

We can rationalize anything. We can intellectualize most things. But to do this, is not to understand these things or to know who we are. We are a bundle of emotions and drivers and kickers and at times we seem to lurch from one disaster to another.

Are you fulfilled?

Fulfillment is about appreciation of what you have and contribution to others.

Why is it that some people are abused and kicked all their lives and yet they have remarkable stories of survival even thriving? Other people are given it all and their lives amount to little. A person who is not fulfilled in their life is probably one who is filled with excuses. They don’t have enough:

  • money
  • time
  • technology

or they are lacking

  • commitment
  • direction
  • sense of purpose

and the list goes on. This seems like a whole lot of justify to me and just a list of many excuses for inaction or repeated failure!

Emotions are the Key

To achieve anything in life there needs to be an over-riding driver and that driver will be an emotion. Have enough of that emotion and I think most of us would be surprised at what we can achieve. Whether it is a fear that we are running from or a need that we really need to satisfy, at the core of every motivation is an intense emotion.

So, what are your drivers? They are there in all aspects of your life. You may just not know enough about them. If that’s the case, now would be a good time to delve in and see what is it that motivates you day in day out?
