Dating Tips: Getting It Right

There are many paths to growing and having fun and isn’t that what dating is all about? As with most things in life psychology plays a huge part. There’s no point in saying you don’t understand human nature – it’s something most of us learn about while on the job – or in this case, on a date!

Sure, we’re all different but the similarities we share far, far outnumber our differences. And it is those similarities that can be learned – if you know what to look for. For guys, I recommend you check out this offer:

Dating is wonderful, fantastic, exhilarating, empowering – when it works. When it doesn’t work, it can be humiliating, soul destroying, and dis-empowering.

There certainly is a trick to dating, especially in the early stages! For women looking for the ‘edge’ when it comes to attracting the right  guy into your life, check this out.

And that’s just the actual dating part, what about the lead up to getting that date? The anxious thoughts, the second thoughts, the guess work, and the vain attempts to read the other person’s signals – have they even noticed me, in that way?

Dating is all about compatibility and the key to being in a compatible relationship is knowing yourself and your own needs. (Then try a compatibility test just for fun).

What are the Dating Options?

There are some people who seem to have been born to party. They are relaxed in their own skin, the life and soul of the party and they move smoothly between different groups of people with minimum effort. These people are probably not even reading this blog!

Then there are those who are reasonably confident and self assured. They may be looking to expand their social circle but, for a number of reasons, they need to do so efficiently For them, online dating and datingcoaching may be the way to go.

The Dangers of Online Dating

and moving out of their  ever decreasing comfort zone. If this is you, then you may prefer to start slowly, take things at your own pace and build you confidence as you go. DIY may be your best option, at least to start with.

And, of course, there is always the ‘cross your fingers and hope for the best’ approach which doesn’t wash with me and presumably, because you’ve read this far, you know it isn’t really an option for you either. Not any more; not ever again.

So, let’s have a look at these options in more detail.

What is Dating Coaching?

A Few Simple Words Can Make Him Yours Forever

It seems there are coaches for everything these days. Having trouble with life in general? Then make an appointment to see a life coach. Surrounded by conflict? There’s a conflict coach waiting nearby to help you resolve your conflicts and ease the tensions in your life.

Need help coping with work? Consider consulting with a business coach or an executive coach. They’re trained to help their clients get the most out of their career.

What about your finances? Do you need some help there? Then, consult with a financial coach.

How is you health? Feeling unmotivated? Perhaps a sports coach or a health coach can assist.

I think you’re probably getting the idea. If you can name your problem, there’s a coach waiting to help you.

What Does a Dating Coach Actually Do?

According to Wikipedia:

Through discussion, role-playing, behavior modeling, and other forms of direction, a dating coach trains clients to meet and attract romantic partners.

Well all good so far.

As dating coaches are unlicensed, their methods vary widely.

Mmm – an unregulated industry. Not a strong enough reason to avoid it all together, I think but a cautionary note worth remembering.

The topics covered and the skills taught by a dating coach include:

  • personal hygiene
  • fashion sense
  • communication
  • psychology
  • body language
  • flirting
  • pickup lines
  • dancing
  • social etiquette
  • online dating

The role of the dating coach is not to match individuals up but rather to prepare and support their clients as they venture into the dating scene.

Some dating coaches are aimed at specific groups. Two of the more clearly defined target groups are dating coaches for Christian and Muslim dating seminars.

Qualifications and Expertise of Dating Coaches

Some coaches have formal qualifications and are proud to display them on their website. There are dating coaches who are specifically trained in psychological techniques such as NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), EFT emotional freedom techniques), Hypnosis and Self-Hypnosis, even Feng Shui. Others seem a little shyer about putting their shingle out with their qualifications neatly listed.

Every good trainer will admit that they too never stop being trained and learning. They invest a lot in their own professional and personal growth and, if I can’t see loads of licenses and recent qualifications on a website, I’d be looking to move onto the next.

Tools of the Dating Coach

Dating coaches usually rely on different combinations of techniques and tools which may include:

  • group therapy
  • newsletter
  • residential workshops
  • one-on-one coaching
  • bootcamps
  • podcasts
  • email coaching
  • counseling
  • mock dates

How Much Can You Expect to Pay for Individual Dating Coaching?

Like everything it depends on lots of things.

My research has uncovered one ‘hot’ coach who is happy to let you have his expertise for  around $20 an hour. Mmm. How does that look to you? Is there such a thing as under-costing? This seems low to me and I’m wondering if I’d be happy working with someone who puts such a low price on their services. Am I being too hard? I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

At the other end of the scale, you can pay $300 an hour for one internet session. That seems excessive but at least the guy comes across as confident and knowing his stuff. However, does he know the dating and relationship scene? the only way to know I guess is to sign up and start getting his stuff free online.

So, for a dating coach expect to pay upwards of $20 and hour and be prepared to outlay $300 for on hour of on-on-one internet coaching, and even more for face-to-face sessions.

Stigma

As with anything new, non mainstream or awkwardly personal, there is still a degree of stigma associated with dating coaching but that shouldn’t be a reason not to try it if you feel you may benefit from it.

What’s the point in having a life half lived? Most people are happy to seek out a teacher, a trainer, a coach or a mentor when they need help so why not try dating coaching?

If Not Dating Coaching, then What?

DIY of course! There are loads of tools, techniques, courses, and dating resources on the Net. It’s just a matter of wading through all the info out there and finding them. That’s what Im doing here at Compatibility and Love.

So, if you’re not ready to face a dating coach be your own and let me help.

There are products for every (and I mean every) aspect of dating. These products teach you everything from:

  • how to begin an exciting conversation with a woman… through
  • the art of flirting … to
  • what women really want in the bedroom.

The audio/video training sessions cost around $200. That’s certainly cheaper than the one-to-one dating coaching sessions but – word of warning coming up here – I am a born skeptic and I can’t help wondering if these courses are just filled with generalizations and small on detail and effectiveness.

On the surface they certainly seem extensive – hours upon hours of audio and video – but is there such a thing as too much information and laboring the points too much? That’s what I’m here to find out.

These and the other issues will be followed up on my blog pages.
